5 Million Doses of Covid-19 Vaccine Delivered to Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Five million doses of the Covid-19 Sinovac vaccines, delivered by the Government of the People's Republic of China, arrived in Cambodia on Tuesday morning. This vaccine delivery was promised to Prime Minister Hun Sen by Chinese President Xi Jinping on 18 March 2022. The plane carrying the vaccines landed at Phnom Penh International Airport at around 9:20 AM.

The Secretary of State for the Ministry of Health, Youk Sambath, said China is one of main countries to deliver Covid-19 vaccines to Cambodia, which has helped the Kingdom become one of the leading countries in vaccinating its population.

The Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, Wu Guoquan, said "China is committed to helping Cambodia survive from the threat of Covid-19.” He further confirmed that in the future, China will send more Covid-19 vaccines to Cambodia.

On 18 March 2022, during a telephone meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen, Chinese President Xi Jinping confirmed to the Prime Minister that China would provide an additional 20 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to Cambodia.

As of 28 March 2022, Cambodia has vaccinated 92.59% of its 16 million people. The vaccines used in Cambodia are Sinopharm, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Janssen, Monderna and Pfizer.
